Welcome to my Amateur Radio web page. My name is Dean. I have some major plans for this site and one of them is to register my callsign as a domain name. You can email me at kc2mvb@nospam.arrl.net (remove the nospam. to get the mail to go through).

While this page is rather bland and borring please be sure to stop back because I will be updating as time goes on and also as time permits. :) Being a Paramedic for New York State I can be quite busy at times.

Some History of me:

As of April 6, 2004 I have my Technician class license! It only took me 13 or so years to do it. Back in 1991 I just wasn't interested in going through all of the classes to get my license esp. after just getting out of Marine Corps Electronics School in 29 Palms, California!

So to say the least I'm proud of this accomplishment and in a few months will be attempting the General License. Just have to get the code part down..

I have some plans to program things for the HAM world at some point in time.

As of July 2004 I am a member of the Genesee Radio Amateurs and also American Radio Relay League (ARRL).

My Rig:

I am currently using an HT (Alinco DJ-G1) on loan from a friend (KC2MVC). My outdoor antenna is a Ringo Ranger II on a 40 ft. mast from Radio Shack. Seems to be working very well.

The two new rigs are an Icom IC-2100H which is in the vehicle and an Alinco DJ-196T which I am liking. It's sure nice having 50 watts of power when you need it. So far I've been lucky and have been keeping the power level on low and still easily hitting all of the repeaters I need.

My Regular spots:

If you are in the Western New York area you'll probably hear me as I frequent repeaters in Weathersfield and Attica often. I am also becoming more active on the Western District Net (http://wdn.hamgate.net).

You can also find me in our local club which can be found at http://www.hamgate.net/~gram/. It's the Genesee Radio Amateurs website.
